About the poem (theme)

*           This poem is a song taken from โ€˜The Tempestโ€™, a beautiful drama by Shakespeare . This song is about the meaningful death of Ferdinandโ€™s father y. He is the prince of Naples who mistakenly thinks that his father drowned into the sea. The spirit Ariel who is the speaker in the poem sings this song to Ferdinand.

*           This poem presents that death is meaningful and inevitable . When a man dies, the parts of the body do not decay ; instead , they become something rich and strange.

*           The speaker says that no parts of his body disappear when he dies. His eyes, bones etc change into pearls, coral and precious  thing. The nymphs who live in the sea ring the death bell (Ding-dong) every hour.

*           Ding-dong is onomatopoeia (a word that sounds like the thing it describes). There is the use of alliteration (repetition of the same consonant sound) in the line 'Full Father Five Thy Father Lies '. It has musical effect in the poem.
